Reception and Year 1 had a fun filled last day of term. We went on an Easter egg hunt around the school, finding eggs with actions on for us to complete. Pretending to be a chicken was by far our favourite!
Thank you to all who attended Stay and Play this morning. We hope you enjoyed our Easter themed activities and look forward to seeing you again soon.
Redgrave class have been learning all about Easter. We read the Easter story, talked about how Easter is celebrated and even tried some hot cross buns. Most of us enjoyed them, some were a little unsure!
Redgrave had a fun afternoon decorating, eating and tossing their pancakes for Shrove Tuesday.
A huge thank you to all the parents/carers who attended our open afternoon. The children thoroughly enjoyed sharing their current learning with you. We hope you are now fluent in Japanese, know how to make an Arctic Fox from a paper plate, you have brushed up on your 3D shapes and have expanded your knowledge of the Arctic!
This morning the lovely Caroline from Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue came to visit us. She taught us how to stay safe and what to do in the event of a fire. We enjoyed dressing up as firefighters and listening to the stories she told to support our understanding.
Reception enjoyed exploring the apparatus for the first time in PE. They demonstrated superb balancing skills and were able to think of alternative ways of travelling on the equipment.
Redgrave and Kingsley had lots of fun at their Christmas Party. Look at our amazing dance moves!

Thank you to all who made Stay and Play on Friday a huge success. We hope you enjoyed joining in with our festive crafts and getting covered in glitter. Merry Christmas!!
It was Friday 30th November and the children of Redgrave class were in for a surprise, a Christmas kind of surprise. With some Christmas music and festive spirit, the tree was laden with decorations. Let’s hope it’s still standing Monday morning!
Reception wrapped up warm and seized the moment to go on a hunt for signs of winter this morning. We used lots of rich vocabulary to describe what we found and even conducted our own ice melting experiment upon our return to the warmth
Thank you to those who were able to attend our parent open afternoon today. The children loved making their pizza faces, decorating their diva lamps, drawing their favourite fruit and of course performing our firework dance. We hope you enjoyed it!
Over the past few weeks Reception have been celebrating and remembering special people and times of the year. Many of us have discovered our creative flair and experimented with new mediums.
Reception have been learning about 2D shapes. We went on a shape hunt around the school to see what 2D shapes we could find in our environment. What shapes can you see?
In PE, Reception have been exploring the different shapes their body can make. We had tall, flat, wide and long shapes. We even worked with a partner to create new shapes together. There was a lot of creativity and some very good balancing on display
On Friday morning Reception found out how dirty their hands really are. Using the hand washing kit we could see the germs on our hands and toys and how easily these can spread. We learnt how to wash our hands properly in a bid to prevent the spread of those pesky germs.
This week we have been exploring our five senses, focussing on a different sense each afternoon. We used some fantastic words to describe our experiences and pulled lots of interesting faces too.
A big thank you to all parents and carers who came along to our first Stay and Play of the year. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!
Reception have made a super start to Holbrook! Here are just a few pictures of the things we have been up to and exploring in our first few weeks.
This week Reception had their first PE lesson. We learnt how to find a space and moved around the hall in different ways whilst listening to instructions. Changing was a success, with no items of clothing lost . . . so far!
